Farm Stay and Bed & Breakfast at Stone & Thistle Farm in the Catskills
Guests enjoy the first-floor suite in the 1863 Greek Revival farmhouse or the Farmhand Cabin. The suite includes a guest bedroom with a double bed, private bath and library with a private entrance. Additional sleeping facilities can be arranged in the library suite to accommodate two other persons.
The Farmhand Cabin is located a short distance from the farmhouse overlooking Kortright Creek. The Cabin accommodates up to two adults and two small children. To accommodate more members of the family, a tent is provided. The Cabin is equipped with electricity and includes a refrigerator, hot plate, microwave and outdoor grill and fire pit for cooking. The Cabin has an outdoor solar shower, wash sink and compost toilet. The Cabin is open mid April through mid October.
After enjoying a bountiful farm breakfast (included in price for the Farmhouse Suite only), guests may opt to participate in a guided tour of the farm and lend a hand with farm chores (1 to 1½ hours). Farm chores, depending on the season, may include collecting eggs, bottle feeding kid goats, feeding and watering chickens, rabbits and pigs, moving the sheep or dairy goats with the border collies and planting, weeding or harvesting in the kitchen gardens.
Farmhouse Suite: $150 per night (1-2 persons). $20 each additional person or child. Includes a hearty, farmstead breakfast served at Fable, of goat milk and yogurt, granola, just-gathered eggs, farm-baked breads and biscuits, and grass-fed bacon or sausage; all grown and made on the farm. A Farm Stay is three nights or more at $125 per night (1-2 persons); $20 each additional person or child. Two-night stay required on holiday weekends. Open year round.
Farmhand Cabin:$110 per night. Includes breakfast of milk, juice, yogurt, granola and hard boiled eggs. The cabin is heated and equipped with electricity. Included is a refrigerator, hot plate, microwave and a fire pit/grill for preparing meals. Meals are self prepared A hot farmstead breakfast is served at Fable for $15 per adult and $8 per child (9 and under). Two-night stay required on holiday weekends. Open mid April through mid October, depending on the weather.
“Morning Tour & Chores”, following breakfast (1 to 1½ hours), is $50 per family. Farmer for A Day, a half-day farm adventure, is $200 for up to four people. See website for details.
Confirmed upon receipt of deposit equal to one night's charge. Deposits may be paid by credit cards. Credit cards are charged at the time the reservation is made. Personal checks must be received within 7 days of making the reservation or the reservation will be cancelled. Personal checks will not be accepted for payment of final balances at checkout. When making your reservation, please let us know if you will be participating in the farm's programs: Morning Tours & Chores or Farmer for a Day.
Last-minute cancellations allow us limited opportunities to re-book the Farmhouse Suite or Farmhand Cabin. Your deposit will be refunded in full if the cancellation is made at least sixteen days prior to arrival. For cancellations within sixteen days of arrival, no refund will be made unless we are able to rebook.
Dinner is served at Fable = a farm + table culinary experience on Saturday nights in the farmhouse’s modern addition May to October. The menu features the best of the farm’s meats, dairy and produce. A pre-fixe five-course dinner costs $55 per person. A three-course dinner costs $38. See the Fable Dining page of our website for event dates, prices and menus. Fable's Saturday night dinners are not recommended for children under 12. The farm tour and brunch are on Sundays from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. The cost is $20 per person; children 5 and under are half price. Reservations are required for both dinner and brunch.
Private meals available for you to enjoy in the Farmhouse Suite's back yard or in the library: $55 per person for five courses includes bottle of wine or $38 per person for three courses. Picnic basket lunches are available for $20 person. Please make arrangements for private meals in advance of your stay.
Licensed massage therapist on premises available by appointment. Massage in the privacy of the Farmhand Cabin or Farmhouse Suite or a Nature Massage in a private meadow.

Farmer for a Day

Smoking: Not permitted anywhere inside farmhouse, farm buildings or on the farm. Smoking is permitted outside on the patio adjacent to Fable.
Minimum Stay: A two-night minimum stay is required on holiday weekends. Farm Stay program is three nights or more.
CHECK-IN: 3 - 7 pm, or by special arrangement
CHECK-OUT: 11 am
Pets: Sorry no guest pets.
Communication: Cell phone reception is limited. Television and internet access are unavailable. Special arrangements can be made for limited satellite internet access.
Farm Dogs: Dogs are part of our farm family. While the dogs are not allowed in the guest area or restaurant, guests must be comfortable with working dogs on the farm property.
Location: Located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, 35 minutes south of Cooperstown, 20 minute drive from Oneonta or Delhi and 3½ hour drive from New York City/Brooklyn. Minutes away from area attractions such at the West Kortright Centre, Hanford Mill Museum, Harmony Hill Retreat and Pine Lake Environmental Center.
Horseback Riding Bring your horse on a farm stay. The horse barn can accommodate 2 horses. Hay and water provided. $25 night. Ride on our quiet, country roads or the local parks and trails that welcome horseback riders. Bear Spring Mountain state park in Downsville, a park designed for riders that boasts miles of horse-accessible trail and 24 horse-tie stalls. The 26-mile, multiuse Catskill Scenic Trail from Bloomville to Roxbury is another good spot for horseback riding, as is the Parksville Rail Trail near Liberty.
